Chelsea’s Story


Following the extra easy plan to reach my target weight as a new mum
After having my son in May I was feeling self-conscious, overweight and often lethargic. Whilst on maternity leave, I found myself turning to chocolate, sweets and caffeine to overcome the tiredness from the long nights. I was breastfeeding so knew things had to change for my son’s sake as well as my own !
On Monday 23rd July, I drew a line – I looked up my local group that evening and went along to start my Slimming World journey.
That evening there were eight new members, all joining for different reasons - weddings,health, fitness, baby bod - but all had the same end goal – to lose weight and change their lives for good!
In my first week I lost 7½lb, achieving my half stone award which made me feel amazingly motivated. I found the plan really easy to follow:
Fill up on free foods (with a 1/3 of a plate of speed foods where possible)
Healthy extras to ensure fibre and calcium nutrition Sins for indulgent / non-free foods
After the first week my weight loss slowed but I knew the number on the scales was still going in the right direction. I had one or two small gains due to holidays, or weeks where I knew staying on plan was going to be difficult, but it didn’t get me down as I knew I had enjoyed myself and just had to get right back on plan to achieve my target.
Slimming World specifically caters for those who are breast feeding or pregnant, offering slightly amended plans to ensure both mum and baby are getting the right nutrition whilst still helping you to achieve your goals. I found this invaluable when I joined, and I loved knowing I could eat healthily, lose weight and still be producing enough milk for my son.
The support from my consultant and members of my group was fab and kept me going back and staying to group each week. Group gave me food inspiration, ideas and a burst of motivation when mine was lacking. I always liken my Slimming World group to having a group of friends all going through the same thing as I am. Always willing to help, whether it be in group, on Facebook, Instagram or outside of Slimming World completely.
I really enjoy to cook and find that Slimming World encourages me to cook from scratch, even when I’m short on time. I love to know exactly what is going in to my food as it’s surprising how much sugar you find in ready to go jars!!. One of my family favourite’s to cook on Slimming World is Chilli con Carne with Rice – all completely free food, so completely guilt free if we go back for seconds!!
Having lost 1 ½ stone, I reached my TARGET weight on 3rd December. I now weigh less that I did before I became pregnant, and I feel absolutely amazing for it! I’m now buying size 10 clothes which is something I haven’t been able to do in years. I’m feeling more confident, healthier in myself and able to keep up when our little one on the move.
I have always had the aim of running a marathon and now that I’ve reached my target weight, I finally feel I’m ready to start my training in the New Year. Susanne’s Story

In January 2014, mum of two, Susanne made a New Year’s resolution to lose weight and joined her Slimming World group in Sunbury. “I didn’t know what to expect, when I walked through the doors at my first meeting. Lots of questions were going through my mind, who is there, what do they do, will they discuss my actual weight…?”. Her mind was put at ease when she was greeted by a friendly and supportive consultant. Susanne had struggled with her weight all her life and piled on extra pounds after she was diagnosed with malignant melanoma in 2012 and after trying quite a lot of other diet programmes, which she never stuck to.
Susanne heard about Slimming World from colleagues at work and saw an advert so she joined her nearest group. She promised herself that she would attend the weekly meetings and after being a member for a year, lost 5 stone 8.5lbs. She found the Slimming World Extra Easy plan simple to follow as it encourages you to eat lots of tasty, free and filling foods like pasta, rice, potatoes, plus lean meat and fish. You are never hungry and no foods are banned. She couldn’t believe she had found a way to lose weight without starving herself. She loves to find and try out new recipes from the magazines, cookbooks and from her group members and continues to have a Full English breakfast, seafood risotto, homemade burger and chips or chicken curry.
Susanne has now lost 7 stone, the slimmest she has ever been since her teens and is a target member, she has gone from a size 24 to a size 12. “I’ve had a huge turnover in my wardrobe. I am now wearing different styles, experimenting with bolder and brighter colours.”
Slimming World isn’t just about changing what you eat, becoming more active is very important and after losing her first 2 stone, she joined a gym. She now loves doing a wide variety of classes, her favourite is yoga, piyo and lifting weights with her trainer.
Susanne is now training to become a Slimming World Consultant and will be relaunching on THURSDAY evening 5.30pm and 7.30pm in the Egham 1st Hythe Scout Hut, Pond Road, Pooley Green TW20, 8BG.

Leighana’s Story

“I'd lost weight with Slimming World before and after my fourth baby I decided this time it would be for good! This time round I decided the whole family would eat the same meals as much as possible and I would do my best to stay to image therapy as much as possible. There I discovered I could help and support others with ideas as well as myself! I was even voted Miss Slinky this year which was fantastic!”

Leighana now runs a group in Staines at Staines Hockey Club on Mondays at 7.30pm

Kate’s Story

“I feel amazing after losing 6½st with Slimming World last year, and for me it has really been life changing! I’ve always had issues with my weight, and had tried all sorts of diets. Two years ago I was feeling miserable, my knees hurt, and I got breathless doing any sort of exercise. I saw an awful photo of myself on holiday which made me decide I had to do something about my weight, which was when she decided to join her local Slimming World group. I was welcomed into the Slimming World group, where everyone was friendly and supportive, and I was never made to feel embarrassed about my weight. I was told I could set my own target, with no pressure from anyone and I got off to a great start. My family love Slimming World meals and friends are shocked that I can enjoy a cooked breakfast, a prawn stir-fry, or even chips! Finding Slimming World changed my life, and now I want to share the secret with everyone who is struggling with their weight.”

Kate now runs the Slimming World group in East Molesey at Imber Court on Tuesdays at 7.30pm.

Anna's Story

Before joining Slimming World I was miserable and lacking confidence. I had just completed my first year of uni and had survived on ready meals and cereal as I didn't know how to cook. When I returned for Summer I made the decision that something had to chsnge and that is when I walked into my local Slimming World group. It was so friendly and supportive and I lost one stone over the summer period.
6 years later I trained to become a consultant and relaunched the Merrow group which now runs every Tuesday at Bushy Hill Community Centre. In August of this year I left my full time job to become a full time Slimming World Consultant and I am now running the Onslow and Jacobs Well groups. Leaving my full time job was the best thing I ever did and I am so proud to be helping so many people with their own weight loss journeys'.

Anna now runs groups in Onslow and Jacobs Well on a Thursday morning
